Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in 1967. 1976 Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Within two years she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. Beginning in 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988 she became the head of the congressional reporters. Mitchell became the Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell has been a panelist, as well as presenter of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was on an advisory panel during the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards in journalism, among them an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began reporting on in the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. She reported on a variety of interesting stories such as arm control, budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell went on numerous trips along with President Reagan for summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
